The Origin

We started because
we couldn’t find what we wanted

Saturn.Haus began in 2019 in a rented workshop in Cairo, Egypt. Two people, a bench, and a question: why is everything either disposable or unaffordable? The answer, we decided, was to make things ourselves.

The first collection was six pieces — a wallet, a card case, a key fob, a notebook cover, a desk weight, and a copper tray. We sold them at a market in Cairo on a Saturday in November. We sold out by noon. We drove home and started the next batch.

Seven years later the workshop is larger, the collection has grown to over thirty objects, and the question is still the same. Why make something that won’t last? The answer hasn’t changed either.

Everything is made alone, by hand, one piece at a time. Every material sourced directly. No distributors, no fulfilment warehouses, no third-party manufacturers. When you buy something from Saturn.Haus, it has been touched by one pair of hands at every stage of its existence.

What we believe

01

Things should last

We build to a standard that assumes the object will outlive its first owner. Joints that hold without adhesive. Thread that won’t rot. Hardware that won’t corrode. If it can’t be repaired, we won’t make it.

02

Material is honest

We don’t coat, laminate, or treat our materials to look like something they aren’t. The leather you receive is leather. The copper is copper. What you see is what will age.

03

Slow is correct

We make one collection. We don’t do seasons, drops, or limited editions. If a piece is good, it stays in the range. If it isn’t, it doesn’t. We’ve discontinued four objects in seven years.

04

Waste is a design failure

Every offcut has a use. Every rejected piece is remade, not discarded. Packaging is recycled paper and linen. We don’t use plastic in any part of our process.

05

Repair is normal

We repair every piece we’ve ever sold. Bring it back in any condition. We’ll assess it, tell you what it needs, and charge only for parts. Labour is free. Always.

06

Traceability is non-negotiable

We can tell you which tannery, quarry, sawmill, or foundry every material in every product came from. If we can’t, we don’t use it.

The workshop

Saturn.Haus is one studio, one maker. Everything is built by hand — one piece at a time, no shortcuts, no outsourcing.

One pair of hands

Every object in the collection is made by the same person who designs it, sources the materials for it, and ships it. There is no production line. There is no team. There is a bench, a set of tools, and a standard.

Open to the curious

The studio is not a showroom — but it is open. If you want to see how something is made, handle the materials before you buy, or simply understand what goes into the work, get in touch. Visits are by arrangement.

Workshops coming

The plan is to teach. Small groups, full days, one material at a time — leather cutting and stitching, copper work, wood joinery. If you want to be notified when the first sessions open, leave your email below.

Workshop interest

No dates set yet. Leave your email and you’ll be the first to know when sessions are announced.

The Workshop

A single room
in Cairo

The studio is 80 square metres in the heart of Cairo. One long bench runs the full length of the south wall. Tools hang above it in the order they are used. Material is stored below it in labelled drawers.

There is no showroom. There is no retail counter. If you want to visit, you can — email us and we’ll arrange a time. We’ll show you how the piece you’re interested in is made, let you handle the materials, and answer any question you have.

We think that’s a better way to sell things than a display cabinet and a price tag.
